Can you decoupage with wallpaper

Lots of wallpapers come with a special wipe-clean coating. There are loads of fantastic bright and colourful designs to choose from to give you a unique piece of furniture. How do you stick wallpaper to furniture? What can I use to stick wallpaper to wood?

Make the surface as smooth as possible. What surfaces can you put wallpaper on? Just about. Wallpaper will adhere to drywall, new and old plaster, concrete, masonry, and paneling. You can even wallpaper over slick, nonporous surfaces, such as tile, concrete block, or synthetic laminate paneling. Can you use wallpaper paste for decoupage? When decorating large items with big designs, use wallpaper paste. If you are using wallpaper samples to decoupage an entire book shelf, you may want to choose all soft green patterns and shades.

You can make a collage and decorate every inch of the piece, or simply cut out a small design and place it in the center of the piece you want to decorate. Prepare the piece you are going to decoupage by sanding the area lightly with a fine grit sandpaper and dusting it off with a damp cloth according to The Guardian website. If you are using unfinished wood, you will need to seal, stain or paint it first, and then lightly sand it with a fine grit sandpaper to prepare the surface.

Cut out the pattern using a craft knife with a self-healing cutting mat, or use a pair of manicure scissors, whichever will help you cut around tiny details. Lay the cut out pieces on the surface to see how they will look best, you can easily move them if you don't like the look.

Arrange paper pieces on the project to determine the final layout. For paper that goes over the edge of your project piece, fold the paper over to crease it; then cut along the crease. Don't cut the paper if you'd rather let it wrap around the edge of the project after you apply the decoupage medium. If you're covering drawers, remove the drawer and set it so its face -- the project area -- is horizontal, for easier application.

Apply decoupage medium to the backs of the paper pieces or to the project surface itself if you work quickly, using a foam brush. Press the paper pieces onto the project, smoothing out bubbles and excess decoupage medium as you work.

Overlap paper pieces slightly so the original object isn't visible between pieces. Reuse decoupage medium that squirts out from beneath the pieces by brushing it onto other areas of the project or over the papered area.

Continue applying and securing decoupage pieces until the entire project is covered. You may be wondering, can I put this pretty [fill in the blank] on my furniture? The answer is almost always yes!
