Solutions I have found so far to resolve the issue you need to decide which one. I know what some other members will say. They say the gadgets are useless. But I have a person who uses the gadgets due to the fact they have very poor eye sight. Actually this person is very close to being legally blind. Uninstall IE The issue does not happen with IE9 2. Uninstall Avast! Disable the gadgets as per the Microsoft's fixit.
Wait for Avast to fix the issue. They now know there is a bug. No problem on this win 7 64bit, IE10 and Avast 8. Thanks for the reply Hardtek but since my first post I have tried something that might have worked. I uninstalled the Avast gadget and then made a new settings file for the sidebar. I have restarted a number of times and so far the clock and calendar come up with no problem.
I believe it was the Avast gadget. I did like it but I guess I will have to live without it until avast finds a cause.
I think you are right that it has to do with IE10 not working with the Avast gadget but no problem with behaviour shield or the clock and calendar. I will know for sure in a few days. Do not understand it essexboy, just started on all computer in short time, had to be some of the updates I guess from MS, maybe? No problems here. I have Clock,Calendar and Avast gadget. Right click the desktop Select gadgets Select the Avast gadget and it should pop up.
Just checked, but it seems that uninstalling by the method that you have described i. Control panel - change , seems to remove the gadget from the avast folder, not actually uninstalling the gadget. It's a very serious disease and it interferes completely with the work. The trouble with computers is that you 'play' with them!
Dieselman Poster Posts: I guess you never tried other products. AVG,Kaspersky and Norton all install a gadget. Gadgets are what makes Wibdows 7 so unique. All you do is close it out and it will never appear again unless you want it to. Other programs like TuneUp Utilities also install gadget. I updated just yesterday from the previous version and then when i restarted the computer the gadget was gone but its always been here even on the version.
Quote from: jack13 on October 08, , PM. The video I produced when Avast was first released also doesn't show the Avast Gadget. Free avast! I didnt do a clean install i just updated when i got a popup saying new update available and then once i restarted my computer the gadget was gone and ive tried a clean install and its still missing i really like the gadget on the desktop so its shame they removed it.
As David already explained, it was a security risk. I had the gadget in on a windows 7 computer. Para-Noid, I don't have it installed.
